CDMA Senior Research Fellow on Council of Economic Advisers for Scotland

Professor Andrew Hughes-Hallett has been elected to serve the Scottish First Minister on the newly-created Council of Economic Advisers. The eleven-member Council, chaired by Sir George Matthewson, includes two Nobel prize winners in Economics, Professors Finn Kydland and James Mirrlees. First Minister Alex Salmond described members of the Council as 'the most formidable intellectual firepower ever to have tackled Scottish economic underperformance'.

Andy is a Senior Research Fellow at CDMA, a visiting Professor at the School of Economics and Finance, University of St Andrews, and a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at George Mason University in the US. He specialises in international economic policy and has acted as a consultant for the World Bank, the IMF, the Federal Reserve Board, the UN, the OECD, the European Commission and central banks around the world. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the Royal Society of Arts.
