Digital images
10 questions to decide the future
In the February issue of the LIS Newsletter we included an article by Dr Mike Pringle (Director AHDS Visual Arts) informing our readers of the National Digital Image Initiative (NDII), also known as 'the digital picture'. The aim of the JISC-funded initiative is to explore issues relating to the effects of the rapid increase in the use of digital images in higher education. It is hoped that the outcome of the NDII may lead to a national copyright-cleared image collection which HEIs may subscribe to.
As mentioned in Dr Pringle's article, in its initial stage the NDII will attempt to clarify what the current situation is regarding the use of digital images in the visual arts education community by carrying out a UK-wide consultation exercise. To achieve this, a questionnaire consisting of 10 simple questions has now been published, and is available online from:

If you have an interest in using digital images for arts-related research or teaching we would like to ask you to spare a few moments of your time to fill in the questionnaire. Your contributions will help to influence the future direction of many aspects of UK arts education relating to digital images.
