Web-based e-mail client
IT Services has been investigating the possibility of introducing a web-based e-mail client. The main aim is to offer a friendlier mail package for students to use in the open-access computer rooms, but it has the added advantage for all users that they will be able to access their St Andrews e-mail from any computer that has a sufficiently powerful web-browser.
As a result of these investigations the IMAP Mail Program (IMP) is now available on an experimental basis. To use IMP, Netscape version 4 for Mac and PC is recommended, although it has also been tried and found to work with Internet Explorer v5 on PCs.
If the trials over the summer are favourable we shall be recommending its use by students in the open-access computer rooms next session.

Note that this service is experimental. We shall be interested in your feedback, so please contact the Helpdesk with comments and problems.
