Free learning resource evaluation toolkit

a web-based resource for practitioners

The appropriate use and evaluation of learning materials is now widely recognised as being an integral part of the development and delivery of learning and teaching. However, few academic staff have had the opportunity to develop the pre-requisite expertise to design and implement an effective strategy for acquisition, use and evaluation of new materials and methods of delivery.

In order to meet this need, this Evaluation Toolkit was developed by the University of Bristol's Institute for Learning and Research Technology and funded by JISC/JCALT a result of Circular 4/99 (http://www.jisc.ac.uk/pub99/c04_99.html).

The Evaluation Toolkit provides a structured resource to help practitioners, irrespective of their current degree of expertise, to evaluate a range of learning resources and activities. It guides users through the scoping, planning, implementation, analysis and reporting of an evaluation. It assists the practitioner in designing progressively detailed evaluations over time, and allows users to access and share evaluation case studies.

The Evaluation Toolkit is free to all members of the UK FE and HE community and is available at: http://www.ltss.bris.ac.uk/jcalt/
