CLUSTAN
We now have a site licence for the PC version of the Clustan cluster analysis package. This statistical package was first written by David Wishart when he was a PhD student at St Andrews and in subsequent years it has been developed and used worldwide. We have had a licence for the mainframe version since the seventies, when it ran on our IBM 360; we currently provide the Solaris version on our Suns.
Clustan/PC is the equivalent of the mainframe version and runs on Windows 95/98 and NT systems. It provides a wide variety of cluster analysis methods and proximity measures, and can handle incomplete data and case or variable weighting.
ClustanGraphics is a companion graphics package for viewing and further analysing cluster analysis results produced by Clustan. It also provides some common clustering methods available in Clustan. ClustanGraphics runs only under Windows 95/98 and NT.
The documentation for Clustan is the Clustan User Manual. A ClustanGraphics Primer has recently been published to accompany ClustanGraphics3. Copies are available from IT Services or Dr Wishart.
Staff and students can obtain personal copies of Clustan and ClustanGraphics which they can use while they remain at the University; for details see the IT Services Web page:
