Climate Change and the Doomsday Glacier
Glaciers, ice caps and the Antarctic are often the very real and immediate media focal points of changes to our climate. In this lecture, Professor Doug Benn will look at research into glacier dynamics and ice-ocean interactions, particularly the causes and effects of glacier surges and iceberg calving.
Using examples from his project DOMINOS (part of the International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration), the lecture will focus on understanding the impact of climate change on the stability of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet.
Lecture and Q&A date: Thursday 29 July 2021, 6pm to 8pm
Small group session: Wednesday 4 August, 6pm to 7pm
