ScotGEM funding arrangements

• Home-funded fee status

  Those with Home (Scotland) fee status will have their tuition fees paid by the Scottish Government and will not need to apply to SAAS (Student Awards Agency Scotland) for payment of tuition fees.

  You may be eligible to apply for a means-tested maintenance loan from SAAS for the duration of the course.

  A ScotGEM ‘return of service’ bursary is available for up to four years of funding.

• RUK (England) fee status

  Year 1

  For the first year, students with RUK (England) fee status pay £3,465 and can apply to Student Finance England for the remainder of the tuition fee. 

  Students can also apply for a means-tested maintenance loan and supplementary grants. 

  Years 2 to 4

  For years 2 to 4, the NHS pays £3,715 and the student can apply to Student Finance England for the remainder of the tuition fee. 

  Students are eligible for the reduced rate maintenance loan along with a means-tested NHS bursary and a grant.

  A ScotGEM ‘return of service’ bursary is available for up to four years of funding.

• RUK (Wales) fee status

  Year 1

  For the first year, students with RUK (Wales) fee status pay £3,465 and can apply to Student Finance Wales for the remainder of the tuition fee. 

  Students can also apply for a means-tested maintenance loan and supplementary grants. 

  Years 2 to 4

  For years 2 to 4, the NHS pays £3,645 and the student can apply to Student Finance Wales for the remainder of the tuition fee. 

  Students are eligible for the reduced rate maintenance loan along with a means-tested NHS bursary and a grant.

  A ScotGEM ‘return of service’ bursary is available for up to four years of funding.

• RUK (Northern Ireland) fee status

  There is no tuition fee support for students with an RUK (Northern Ireland) fee status.

  Students are able to apply for a means-tested maintenance loan and supplementary grants.

  A ScotGEM ‘return of service’ bursary is available for up to four years of funding.

• Islands (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) fee status

  Students from the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man are advised to contact their island authority directly to determine if they are eligible for funding.

  There is no NHS tuition fee or bursary support for Islands students.

  A ScotGEM ‘return of service’ bursary is available for up to four years of funding.

• Republic of Ireland fee status

  SAAS do not offer tuition fee funding for ScotGEM. Students from the Republic of Ireland are advised to contact their local funding bodies directly to determine if they are eligible for funding for this course.

  There is no NHS tuition fee or bursary support for Republic of Ireland students.

  A ScotGEM ‘return of service’ bursary is available for up to four years of funding.
