If you are applying to ScotGEM, please complete the following steps.

1. Entry requirements

Ensure you meet the entry requirements.

2. Aptitude tests

Ensure you have sat the relevant aptitude test.

3. Check the campus code details: A101

4. Write a personal statement

Further information about personal statements is given within the 'qualities and experience' section on the entry requirements page. Guidance on how to write a personal statement can be found on UCAS.

5. Arrange a referee's report

Applicants who have studied at university at any point in the past three years (for example, an undergraduate degree, a Masters or a PhD), will only need to provide an academic reference as part of the UCAS application. This can be from an academic tutor or advisor of studies. Your academic referee should:

be up to date with your academic progress
have taught or supervised you in the last three years prior to entry to ScotGEM
comment on your academic performance, your attitude to study and your approach to working with others, including communication skills.

Applicants who have not studied at university in the past three years will need to provide one of the following references as part of their UCAS application. Any references must be within the last three years:

an academic reference (for example, Higher or an A-Level). Your academic referee should:

be up to date with your academic progress
have taught or supervised you in the last three years prior to entry to ScotGEM
comment on your academic performance, your attitude to study and your approach to working with others, including communications skills.

a workplace reference. Your workplace referee should:
- comment on your suitability for medicine
- have managed or supervised you in the last three years prior to entry to ScotGEM.

All applicants should note:

References from family members or close friends are not acceptable.
Academic references must come from an official higher education institution email account.
Workplace references must come from an official work email account.

6. Fill out an application form via UCAS.

7. Submit your application by the deadline.

Candidates should apply by 15 October in the year before entry to ScotGEM. The School does not consider late applications after the official closing date. The ScotGEM programme does not enter UCAS Extra or Clearing. To find out more about selection procedures after you have applied, see how are students selected.

8. Submit your online questionnaire.

The deadline for the questionnaire is likely to be in late November in the year before entry; applicants will be notified once the deadline has been finalised.

All applications must be submitted online via UCAS. The ScotGEM Admissions team will not accept any applications directly. The code to use when applying is A101. Applications and decisions will be processed through the University of St Andrews.

ScotGEM Admissions are aware that the majority of applicants will be applying to other medicine programmes. Applicants applying to this programme may apply to the A100 course at the University of St Andrews and the University of Dundee in the same application cycle.

Qualifications
- All qualifications taken (regardless of grades obtained) must be included on the UCAS form. Please indicate grades already obtained even if you are re-taking examinations.
- Ensure that intermediate-level qualifications such as GCSEs and Standard Grades (or equivalent) are included.
- All qualifications you will be taking, but have not yet completed, must also be included on the UCAS form. Ensure predicted grades for any examinations yet to be taken, including degree classification and future study, are included where possible.
- If you do not include all of your grades, then your application will not be considered.
The universities of St Andrews and Dundee will not admit students based on fraudulent or plagiarised applications or documents. All applications will be processed by the University of St Andrews. Please see the University’s admissions policy for more information.

If a student is found to have deliberately failed to disclose information that could have made him or her ineligible to study medicine, or given false information, the course provider can consider removing them from training on grounds of dishonesty.
