Fast Track Mathematics MMath (Hons) 2020 entry
It is possible for students applying for the MMath in Mathematics to complete their degree in four years instead of five by taking the Fast Track degree route.
Fast Track students take the same modules required by the Mathematics MMath programme, but at an accelerated rate. This route allows students to take a mixture of first-year and second-year modules, giving them a gentle start to first year, but then progresses to an accelerated sequence of modules, meaning students will have an increasing workload over the remaining years of study to ensure advanced topics are reached by fourth year.
During your first year, you will take an additional first year module, Topics in Mathematics: Problem-solving Techniques, which is intended to strengthen the mathematical skills for those on the Fast Track route.
If your qualifications will be sufficient for second-year entry, you can either choose to apply for it directly or to apply for first-year entry and then upgrade on arrival. If English is not your first language you will need an overall IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum score of 6.0 in each component (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking), or an equivalent English Language qualification.
Do I need to have studied this subject before?
Applicants are expected to have studied Mathematics at SQA Higher and Advanced Higher, GCE A-Level, or equivalent.
